Hermitage of Santa Maria d'Avià (Avià - Barcelona)

It is located on the outskirts of the Avià town in Barcelona province.
Description and History:
The first document that mentions 'Santa Maria d`Avià' dates from
November 21, 983, in which the Count Oliva of 'Cerdanya-Besalu' and his
wife 'Ermegarda' made some donations among which are found the church.
During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) was abandoned and the cult was
converted warehouse until 1970, the Heritage Service Barcelona
Provincial Council carried out major restoration work, returning the
worship May 14, 1973.
Avia Virgin Mary was also known as 'Our Lady of the Milk', since her
mothers pregnant advocated for the help in childbirth and the grant
have enough milk for the child 'goigs of Santa Maria de Avià'.
